Space to Dream: Other World Club

My nephew (6) wants nothing more than to enter another world. My boyfriend and I (adults who vibe with 6 year olds) are game should the opportunity present. And so last week, walking back a water fight at Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Other World Club (OWC) was formed.

  • OWC Summer Mission: Enter another world. 

  • OWC Strategy: Through a portal? A dream? Time travel?

This opened up a conversation on what kind of other world we want to enter.

  • OW Vision: Fountains of any food we want. Every day is a holiday. Dogs talk.

And important philosophical questions:

Should all people love one another? Even if those people do bad things?

Is it okay to not want things others want? For instance, “raining steak” ?

We stumbled our way into simulation theory.

Me: What if this is the Other World, and our “real” selves entered into here!

Nephew: You sound crazy, but you’re making a lot of sense.

We made it official with a secret handshake.

We could all use an Other World Club—a group of people to make crazy sense with. You don’t have to all want the same thing all the time (i.e. steak showers). Your OWC is a place to think creatively, imaginatively, absurdly, lightly about what you want and what might be possible. 

We face a lot of seriousness in the day-to-day of this present moment. I implore you to also create a space to dream. Because we're all always entering another world— our shared future. This world is in the hands of the dreamers.
